NEWS  FROM  St JAMES  AND St PHILIPS: 6 April 2007

A happy and joyful Easter to all from the congregations of St James and St Philips.

Together with the other churches in Stonehaven we have a full programme of services during this Easter period and these are listed elsewhere in the Leader. For those of you who like to be up with the lark, then there is the harbour service at 8.30 on Easter Sunday. For those who are quite happy to let the lark do whatever it wants on its own, then we have our Festival Eucharist at 10.30 at St James. This year the service is even more special as, most appropriately, we will also be celebrating a baptism. So do come along and join in the fun.

As mentioned before, we held a competition amongst the children to design the cover of our Easter newsletter. Our new Rembrandt, or perhaps Picasso, is Calum Lawrence. Congratulations to him for a magnificent picture which we have printed in full colour.

We have two special functions coming up soon after Easter. On 20th April we will be holding a Beetle Drive in the Hall from 6.30 to 8.00 pm. It’s bound to be a hilarious evening and, of course, there will be refreshments. The entertainment continues on the following Monday (23rd) when the Ury Players have kindly agreed to perform in the hall. We are promised an extravaganza of song, dance and poetry. Tickets are an extremely reasonable £3 and again there will be the opportunity to refresh yourselves in the interval.
